Welcome to the Upper Buffalo River where you can explore the most beautiful parts of the Ozark Mountains. Here in the Boxley and Ponca areas of Northwest Arkansas, you’ll find the headwaters of the Buffalo National River and the perfect place for your next adventure!

For the outdoor enthusiasts, the Buffalo River offers challenging kayaking and canoeing in the spring, or a relaxing float in the summer. The terrain of the upper Buffalo River area provides great mountain biking and ATV trails. The Buffalo River National Park is home to numerous caves and hiking trails to explore, with some of the most renowned hikes such as Hemmed-In-Hollow, Lost Valley Park, and picturesque Hawksbill Crag all right here!

And when all that activity has made you hungry, stop by the Boardwalk Cafe for dishes made with food grown primarily by the organic farmers in the Upper Buffalo River area.

If it’s relaxation you crave, we recommend horseback riding along Rimrock Cove, shopping for hand-crafted pottery at Osage Clayworks, or slipping out to watch the Elk along the river valley around dusk or dawn. Although, just staying in one of the log cabins, lodges, or area camps can be a vacation all of its own. Come to the Upper Buffalo River, where all your adventures begin!
Buffalo National River was named one of the top ten undiscovered national parks everyone must visit by

Visitor Testimonials

"We were not prepared for what we found when we visited the Buffalo National River. It is spectacular, but also affordable.

We had forgot what clean air and water were about. It is totally amazing and unexpected. People who love the outdoors will love this unspoiled park."
